A Commitment To Authenticity And Fine Quality
In The Beginning
SilverTQ, LLC (formerly KESA Wholesale, and Glen Echo Resort prior to KESA) has been a dedicated purveyor of authentic Native American Jewelry since the early 1970’s. We have a long history of being concerned with accuracy in what we offer to the public.
Glen Echo Resort was a long established business that drew many customers from all parts of the United States. It was always important to us to maintain the highest integrity in what we offered for sale. The 1970’s were booming years for Indian Jewelry and there was a great deal of misinformation that was being disseminated. Some information was simply due to bad information and some was perhaps intentional. We did not avoid being a victim. A jewelry salesman whom we once did business with misinformed us with wrong information regarding a particular artist hallmark. The salesman was simply repeating what he was told. Unfortunately, this information turned out to be totally false.
Disturbed by this salesman’s careless attitude, we set out to find the truth. Finally, after many weeks of research, were able to talk to an Indian from the town where the product was being made. As was suspected, he assured us that our information was incorrect. This unfortunate experience made us conclude we needed to acquire our authentic jewelry from the direct source of where it was being made.
Since 1976 we have made routine trips to the reservation areas to assure what we buy is truly authentic. We take the commitment to honestly present our authentic Indian jewelry and crafts very strongly. As a result, our retail store greatly prospered and in 1978 we launched our wholesale division, still doing well today. We sold Glen Echo Resort in 2001, but kept the thriving wholesale business.
There are not a great number of people that have been in this business as long as we have. We offer integrity, a strong base of information from conducting business this long, and a large inventory that is constantly changing as we buy large quantities of new products throughout each year. Longevity does have its advantages. We can honestly answer about any question you might have.
Nothing But Authentic
All of our jewelry is made of sterling silver and a variety of semi-precious gemstones, most being turquoise from an assortment of mines. Some of these mines are no longer active. Consequently, the turquoise from these mines is more rare. Our Native American Jewelry silversmiths come from the Navajo, the Zuni, the Rio Grande Pueblos, and the Hopi villages. Although each Indian Tribe has their own unique style of jewelry they produce, there are some instances of cross over styling. We absolutely do not handle any imported jewelry of any kind.
You can be assured every jewelry piece coming from us will be honestly presented with the artist being properly credited. As much as is possible, the mine will be also be correctly identified. We must note that all mines produce a variety of stone colors and matrix imbedded in the stone. We assert a high level of diligence in identifying these mines. However, sometimes the artist is not able to accurately identify what some mines are due to mixing stones on their workbench. This shortcoming can be especially true with multicolor inlaid pieces.
American Indian Jewelry is always USA made, mostly produced in the American Southwest, and is the sole source to the world market. Our customers who purchase this finely handcrafted jewelry should be proud of where and how it’s made and what it signifies.
