Native American Knives
SilverTQ, LLC carries a line of knives that are inlaid by either Navajo or Zuni artists. Although other Native American tribes are quite capable of performing this artful skill, the primary makers are Navajo and Zuni.
The Native American artist buys knives of various styles and removes the existing body and handle, usually wood. The knives are then inlaid in that body and handle area with differing stones to create mosaic effects of contrasting and often vivid colors. This is primarily done with using the stone-on-stone inlay technique. To an extent, each knife will be unique in blade configuration and length of its body and/or handle .
Stone-on-stone inlay is the process of tightly fitting different stones together so closely that they give the appearance of being one solid piece, with no spacers between the stones. Each piece is hand cut and fitted in place.
A Special Item
Owning a Native American knife encompassing a unique and colorful design is without a doubt having a prized possession. Handcrafted by a gifted Native American artist, these noteworthy pieces decorated with inlaid stones of various shapes and sizes make quite an impressive statement.
All craft items marketed and sold by Native American Jewelers, LLC are expertly handcrafted in the USA by a reputable Native American artist. Imported or imitation craft items of any kind are not what we sell or endorse. The one exception may be the individual artist’s choice of the knife blade he or she uses. It is not uncommon for the blade, not the knife’s authentically handcrafted body and/or handle, to be imported. No matter what the particular craft item may be, you can be assured complete satisfaction. Individually made, one at a time, each item to be cherished by their owners for generations to come.
