Native American Pendants
Defining The Pendant
SilverTQ, LLC has always carried a large assortment of pendants most often associated with necklaces. This wide category encompasses smaller to larger faced pendants that are also commonly classified as necklaces. Primarily what we classify as a pendant indicates that the Indian handcrafted piece will be a single unit. Conversely, a necklace is typically recognized as being made of a bottom handcrafted piece and probably some side pieces as well. Necklaces, as opposed to pendants, may also use a heavier chain or beads to hang and support the piece. This classification is truly amorphous. The short answer is that Native American jewelry pendants are typically hung on a single chain and often times are smaller in scale. The native artisan uses the same expert craftsmanship to create smaller scale jewelry items as they do for larger-sized pieces. Some customers we service like to add multiple pendants on a single chain to create unique necklaces. Possibilities are endless with the use of pendants.
The chains that support the pendants are most often not handmade, but will always be 100% sterling silver when they come from our site. The chain will be described fully in the information section on each piece that includes a chain. Chain weight, and/or length may be exchanged but the price will be adjusted accordingly. Heavier and/or longer chains have more silver weight which will reflect a higher price.
Some chains offered will be listed as being “handmade.” This is an accurate statement. These chains are completely created by the silversmith artist. The styles vary tremendously from simple links to more complicated and heavier designs that may include stamp work or even some silver fabrication. These handmade chains might be of a high shine or offered as a satin finish. Handmade chains are not inexpensive but do add a great deal of value to the overall pendant/necklace presentation. Some handmade chain styles are crafted to be used as bracelets.
